Hoi An opens traditional medicine museum
The newly-opened museum for traditional medicine in Hoi An Town is located at 46 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street. The opening is part of a series of activities to mark the 44th anniversary of Hoi An Liberation Day (March 28) and 20 years since the recognition of Hoi An old town (December 4).
Nearly 200 items including tools and documents about the traditional medicines have been put on display. The museum revives the old medicine space and is a way to preserve the practices in modern times. There are a total of six exhibition rooms that revive the old clinic such as the examination room, waiting room, selecting medicines scene and medicine processing scene.
Pham Phu Ngoc, the museum's deputy head, said, "The museum is linked with other museums on Tran Phu and Nguyen Thai Hoc streets. We aim to preserve the items while promoting the inherent values of the artefacts to the public."

From 16th to 18th century, Faifo-Hoi An was very famous for traditional medicine with many pharmacy streets and stores such as Trieu Phat, Xuan Sanh and Duy Ich. Traditional medicine in Hoi An and Quang Nam Province was highly developed.
