Vietnam to compete at Asia-Pacific Film Festival

Vietnam will submit a feature, two documentaries, and an animated film to the 54th Asia-Pacific Film Festival – APFF held in Taiwan from Dec. 2-4.

Director Dao Ba Son’s Long thanh cam gia ca (The song about a person who twangs in Thang Long), will compete with 27 films from 13 countries and territories in the feature film category.

The historical-drama is named after a famous work by the poet Nguyen Du who authored the poem as a gift for a woman named Cam.

Vietnam’s submission will also include two documentaries, Nguoi thap lua (The fire maker) by Director Nguyen Nhu Vu, and Dao Ly Son (Ly Son Island) by Director Cong Thanh Duc; and Director Hong Son’s animated film Chiec la (The leaf)

Eighteen countries and territories will compete at this year’s festival.

In 2006 Song Trong So Hai (Living In Fear) Directed by the up-and-coming Bui Thac Chuyen and Chuyen cua Pao (The Story of Pao) took the APFF’s Jury’s Great Award and Special Award.
