The exhibition which is being held at Quang Ngai Museum is within the framework of an international conference on Ly Son-Sa Huynh Geopark in Quang Ngai proposed as a member of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network (GGN).

The antiques being displayed at Quang Ngai Museum 

The antiques are from the sunken ships offshore from the central province of Quang Nam to the southernmost province of Ca Mau. Many of the objects which dated back to hundreds of years ago are evidence of maritime trading in the past.

Ships from the north used to a harbour in Binh Chau area of Quang Ngai to trade and buy food and water. The Binh Chau sea area is believed to be the resting place for many wrecks dating from the eighth to the 18th century. Archaeologists have discovered that all the ships were burnt before being sunken, which might be attributed to attacks by pirates. 

Antiques dated back from the 13th century were found by two fishermen in Binh Thuan Province on a sunken ship off Ca Mau Province’s coast. It was said to be a Chinese ship which sank offshore Ca Mau on the way to the Netherlands.
