HCMC to host Asia Pacific Bonsai & Suiseki Convention and Exhibition

The 15th Asia Pacific Bonsai & Suiseki Convention and Exhibition (ASPAC 2019) will take place at the Suoi Tien Tourism Cultural Park in Ho Chi Minh City from November 15 to 18.

With the theme “The Art Bonsai - The Convergence of Friendship - Integration”, the exhibition gathers bonsai lovers from across the Asia-Pacific to renew and strengthen friendships and understanding to achieve peace and harmonious lives.


The exhibition will introduce nearly 1,000 beautiful and unique bonsai art as well as over 250 Suiseki (natural stone art works) in a variety of sizes and styles from 40 cities and provinces in Vietnam, including bonsai with a height of more than 1 meter.

There will be also a display of 100 photos of bonsais from both domestic and international artisans.

A wide variety of other activities will also be held, including a contest on Bonsai works from Vietnam, Bonsai demonstrations by Vietnamese and international artisans, an awards ceremony to honor outstanding Bonsai and Suiseki artworks, trade pavilions of bonsais, sightseeing tours in the city, and a workshop.

The event is a chance for Vietnam to promote its culture, tourism, and people to foreign friends and for local ornamental artists to meet with their foreign peers, thus fostering cooperation, according to the organizing board, the Vietnam Ornaments and Creature Association.

It is expected to welcome some 50,000 artisans and visitors from 50 countries and territories.

ASPAC is a biennial event gathering all bonsai lovers and was held for the first time in Bali, Indonesia, in 1991, with a spirit of advancing friendship among bonsai lovers and loving nature and the environment, with the theme of Friendship Through Bonsai. Since then, it has been conducted from country to country within Asia-Pacific, attracting bonsai lovers from the region and other parts of the world.
