Phan Ngoc Tho, chairman of Thua Thien-Hue Province, chaired the meeting held by Hue Festival 2020 Management Board to discuss the problem.

The festival was supposed to be held in April. Due to Covid-19, it was postponed to August 28-September 2. However, in order to make time for Independence Day activities on September 2, the festival will be rescheduled again to August 26-31.

A live broadcast will take place on September 2 and Thua Thien-Hue Province will be one of the major destinations.

Director of Hue Festival Huynh Tien Dat said art troupes and performers from Hanoi, HCM City, Lao Cai, Dak Lak and other countries will participate in the festival. The organisers have informed all artists about the change.

Thua Thien-Hue Province has asked the centre to review all plans, especially programmes that use fund from the private sector. The centre must improve the quality of street performances and the Ao Dai Festival of Hue to make sure that the public will be one of the main participants.

Hue Nam Palace Festival will be one of the main activities this year. The event includes Thien Y A Na Holy Mother procession, fish release ceremony, and floating lantern releasing on the Perfume River.
