Exhibition honours scientific works of Ho Chi Minh Award winners

An exhibition opened on August 29 in Hoa Binh Province to honour 14 works by Vietnamese scientists who were presented with the Ho Chi Minh Award for their significant contributions to the country and humanity.

The event, sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), is taking place at the Heritage Park of Vietnamese Scientists.


With 164 documents and items on display, visitors can learn more about the scientists’ contributions as well as the ideals that drove them to work and succeed in the country’s difficult conditions.

In the field of medical sciences, Dr Dang Van Ngu was noted for devising a method of manufacturing antibiotics such as penicillin and streptomycin, helping to cure tens of thousands of wounded soldiers.

Dr Ton That Tung was renowned around the world for his new technique for operating on the liver, while Professor Hoang Tuy was recognised for his pioneering research in the field of global optimisation.

Other notable works on display include research on Vietnamese people’s anatomy, plants and animals in Vietnam, nonlinear oscillations, and river damming.
