A rehearse of the ceremony

The festival is held annually on the tenth day of the third month in the lunar calendar. This year, the date falls on April 21.

Le Truong Giang, director of the Hung Kings Temple Relic Management Board, said on April 20 that they would only hold the ceremony and skip the festival part. However, it is expected to be more crowded than last year. During the weekend, 30,000 people visited the temples. The number of visitors on April 21 could reach an estimated 20,000.

The management board and volunteers will continue raising awareness about Covid-19 prevention with more signs and slogans. Free face masks and hand wash will be given to visitors.

Giang said, "Public awareness has greatly improved. We also asked the security to make sure that only people wearing face masks are allowed to enter the temples."

The management board collaborated with the police to regulate the traffic from the parking place to prevent congestion.

The traditional rituals will be conducted at the temples dedicated to Lac Long Quan and Au Co and the Hung Kings. The incense offering ceremonies to the Hung Kings and famous figures will be held in Nghia Linh Mountains.

Incense offering ceremonies will be simultaneously held at all localities in Phu Tho Province.
