The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) was forced to delay the negotiation meeting with coach Calisto because he hasn’t yet returned to Vietnam.

Coach Calisto went to visit to his hometown in Portugal and did not return to Vietnam on February 3 as promised. VFF has tried but failed to contact the coach many times.

After a meeting with Le Hung Dung, Vice President of Finance for VFF, Calisto promised that he would finalise the deal with VFF when he returns Vietnam.

Completing the deal in February is vital from VFF's standpoint.

After a previous meeting on January 19, VFF was confident that the coach would agree to lead the Vietnamese football team and Vietnamese Olympic team from 2010-2013. As part of the discussion, VFF set achievement goals in addition to privileges offered to him. He would be paid USD 22,000 per month (excluding income tax) and his bonus could be increased depending on performance. He would also be provided with the best accommodation and travelling conditions.

Both parties included clauses in the negotiations such as Calisto will being responsible for only Vietnamese Football and Olympic teams but not Hanoi T&T. Other issues that were to be resolved upon his return were income tax and personal bonus conditions.

Meanwhile Hanoi T&T is striving to hire Calisto in order to help them obtain victory in the V-Leage during the 2010 season. They are able to offer Calisto better payment than VFF so there may be a surprise at the last minute during the coming weeks.
