Resilient Vietnam stuns skilled Qatar 2-1

Vietnam has displayed resilience in restoring their footballing pride on Thursday when they won Qatar 2-1 in the second leg of the 2014 World Cup qualifying round. On aggregate, Qatar wins 4-2 thanks to their 3-0 victory in the first leg last Saturday.

After conceding a goal in the 16th minute by Qatari Yousef Ahmad Ali, Vietnamese players braced up their determination with relentless attacks and they were well paid with two goals in the 60th and 78th minutes by midfielders Trong Hoang and Quang Hai.

Despite of suffering an aggregate loss, Vietnamese players and coach Falko Goetz have kept their promises ahead of the return leg that they will wrest up their strength and spirit to produce an exciting and attacking game to please fans.

In the other games, Kuwait beat the Philippines 2-1 in the second leg and 5-1 on aggregate. China won Laos 6-1 (13-3 agg.), Syria defeated Tajikistan 4-0 (6-1 agg.), Jordan drew Nepal 1-1 but won 10-1 on agg.
