Cueist Ma Xuan Cuong won bronze medal at the carom 3-cushion World Cup in Seoul on September 4.
The world No.35 lost to world No.19 Jae-Cho Ho of the Republic of Korea 3-1 (15-2, 15-14, 15-12) in the semi-final.
Cuong’s success was unexpected. Earlier, he defeated world No.2 Caudon Frederic.
It is the second achievement in four years for Vietnam’s carom 3-cushion participants in the World Cup. At the 2007 Suwon World Cup, Ho Chi Minh City’s Tran Chi Thanh was runner-up.
Vietnam sent seven players from Ho Chi Minh City to compete at the event which wrapped up on September 5. It attracted more than 100 players, including those in the top 15.
Vietnamese player were able to hone their skills for the 26th Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia in November.
