Vietnam’s top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh is competing at the 2011 Open Badminton Tournament, which kicked off in Denmark on October 18.

Minh, the world’s No7 seed, will play his first match against Japanese rival Kenichi Tago. If successful, he will then meet the winner of the match between Indonesia’s Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka and Japan’s Sho Sasaki.

In the semi-final, the Vietnamese player will face tough competition against China’s Lin Dan, who currently ranks second in the world.

The competition, which has attracted the most outstanding athletes worldwide, is a good opportunity for Minh to hone his skills before joining the 26th SEA Games in Indonesia in November.

The winner of the 2011 Open Badminton Tournament will be awarded US$200,000 in cash prize.
