Tien Minh wins first-ever medal in world competition

Vietnamese badminton star Nguyen Tien Minh capped off a sensational performance in the semifinals at the 2013 World Badminton Championships in Guangzhou, China by winning his first-ever world medal.

Nguyen Tien Minh suffered a 0-2 defeat to Lin Dan from China following a loss to the four-time world champion in the first set 21-17.

Although Tien Minh fought back fiercely in the second set, he was eventually beaten 15-21 by his strong opponent.

Winning the bronze medal marks the highest achievement of Minh’s career and improves his world ranking.
