The Olympic Vietnam football squad were knocked out of the ongoing 17th Asian Games (ASIAD 17) in the Republic of Korea on September 26 after losing 1-3 to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Coach Miura’s 11-men could not take an advantage to beat 10 men of the UAE when Alyssai was red carded on 62 minutes.

Striker Al Ahbabi broke through the Vietnamese defence line to fire a typically clinical shot into the net, giving the UAE the lead on 21 minutes.

One minute before Alyssai was red carded, Rashid ventured down on the right and passed to Almegbaali who turned and slammed home with a header past goalkeeper Buu Ngoc from inside the box.

Huy Hung scored a goal for Vietnam on 87 minutes, narrowing the score. However, Al Ababi’s extra time goal shattered Vietnam’s hope.
