Vietnam drop to 136th in FIFA ranking

The men football team of Vietnam dropped two steps to the 136th position in the FIFA ranking in the first month of 2017, said officials of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on January 13.

The squad was ranked at 22th in Asia and the third in Southeast Asia, which was led by the Philippines at 122th and Thailand, second, at 126th.

Myanmar and Malaysia took 159th and 161th respectively while Singapore and Indonesia’s positions were No. 165 and No. 173.

The world’s top 10 remained unchanged with Argentina taking the lead, followed by Brazil and Germany.

In 2017, a total of twelve national teams from Vietnam will compete in regional, continental and global games, said VFF General Secretary Le Hoai Anh, adding that the VFF will continue to improve the quality of the national tournament.
