The Vietnam Paralympic Association had a working session with authorities from the Japanese prefecture of Nagasaki in Hanoi, on April 26, to discuss the development of sports for people with disabilities in the two countries.

At the working session

Vice-Chairman of the association, Hoang Du, thanked the Japanese government and National Paralympic Committee for supporting Vietnamese disabled athletes to attend training courses on swimming and weightlifting in preparation for the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo.

He hoped the Japanese prefecture will continuously help Vietnamese athletes and enable them to partake in friendly competitions held in both nations.

Parliamentarian Kobayashi Katsutoshi hailed Vietnam’s sports development in recent years, highlighting the two gold medals won by Vietnamese athletes at the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Brazil.

He said he welcomes Vietnamese athletes to join training courses in Japan and pledged to provide optimal assistance — from playing ground to accommodation — to them.
