Vietnam’s no. 1 tennis player Ly Hoang Nam and partner Sun Fajing (China) beat Alcantara Francis Casey (Philippines) and Singh Karunuday (India) with a score of 2-0 on July 14 to win the men’s doubles title at the China F12 Futures 2017 tournament.

This is the second Men’s Futures doubles crown Nam has won so far.

Nam and his Chinese partner played solidly in the first set and took advantage of their opponents’ weaknesses to claim the set 6-4 with accurate forehand shots.

Alcantara and Karunuday went into a 2-0 lead in the second set, but the quality of the two players in the ATP’s top 500 enabled Nam and Fajing to equalise the score at 4-4 before making it 6-4 to take the overall victory.

This is the second Men’s Futures doubles crown Nam has won so far, following last year’s glory when he and his fellow countryman Nguyen Hoang Thien won at the Vietnam F5 Futures.

Winning this championship title will push Nam into the world’s top 500 in the next ATP men’s doubles rankings.

Earlier the same day, the Vietnamese star stopped in the quarterfinals of the men’s singles event after losing 4-6, 6-4 and 1-6 to Sun Fajing.

After the tournament in China, Nam will focus on preparing for the upcoming 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, to commence in Malaysia next month.
