Gymnasts claim fourth gold for Vietnam at SEA Games 29

Vietnamese male gymnasts successful wrapped up Vietnam's first official competition day at the on-going 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Malaysia on August 20 with a gold medal in men's gymnastics team event.

This is the fourth gold of the day for the Vietnamese sports delegation, after two golds by wushu competitors in the morning and a gold by male archer Duc Anh in the afternoon.

Gymnasts Dang Nam, Dinh Phuong Thanh, Vu Hung, Le Thanh Tung, Pham Phuoc Hung and Tran Dinh Vuong joined men's team competition Sunday evening with the determination to defend their gold medal at the previous SEA Games.

Vietnamese athletes competed well to claim the top with 319,050 points, followed by hosts Malaysia with 305,550 points and Thailand with 293,200 points.

Wrapping up competition on August 20, Vietnam has four golds, three silvers and five bronzes, an encouraging result that motivates Vietnamese athletes to compete well in the next days of SEA Games.

Currently, the Vietnamese sports delegation ranked fourth in the medal tally. The hosts still dominate the table with 16 golds, 13 silvers and nine bronzes, followed in second by Singapore.
