The delegation of vice presidents Tran Quoc Tuan, Doan Nguyen Duc and General Secretary Le Hoai Anh met and negotiated with Park Hang Seo on September 29. The two sides basically reached agreements so that Park will lead the national team, the Under-23 and Olympic sides.

Park was Guus Hiddink’s assistant for South Korea team that finished fourth at the FIFA World Cup 2002. He also has experience as assistant during the World Cup 1994.

He led U23 team to a bronze medal at the Asian Games in Busan in 2002 and successfully led many football clubs in South Korea.

VFF and Park are expected to complete the details and the signing ceremony will be held in Hanoi in October. The salary and other information haven't been revealed.

Coach Mai Duc Chung will continue leading the team to meet Cambodia team on October 10 in qualification for Asian Cup.

Vietnam veteran coach Le Thuy Hai said he was glad after hearing the news because foreign coaches have some advantages over domestic coaches. But he thought VFF was too hasty and didn't release their list of applicants to gather opinions.

"But of course, once VFF invites Park Hang Seo, they need to trust him and be patient in helping young players grow instead of focusing on immediate successes," Hai said.
