Based on this result, Vietnam surpassed Jordan to rank 97th in the FIFA world ranking and 15th in Asia.

Vietnam’s position in the FIFA rankings improved to 96th worldwide after Estonia lost in recent matches against Northern Ireland and Germany, which saw them drop behind Vietnam with 1,227 points.

This is the second highest ranking of the Vietnamese football team in the past two decades following the country’s 84th spot ranking in 1998.

The rankings act as a base for the draw of the second stage of the Asia-Pacific region’s World Cup 2022 qualifying groups. The tournament is set to begin in Qatar on November 21.

Coach Park Hang-seo plans to gather 27 players to complete at the World Cup 2022 qualifying round.
