Hanoi is actively speeding up the construction of a racetrack to host the country’s first F1 Grand Prix next year.

The 5.56-km racetrack with 23 turns, designed by German firm Tilke and Formula 1 Group, will be a combination of public roads and a part of the My Dinh sports complex in Nam Tu Lien District. It covers a total area of 88 hectares.

At present, many streets in the area have been zoned for the project implementation.

Part of Le Duc Tho Street has been fenced.

The same work has also been done for Nguyen Co Thach and Le Quang Dao streets, partially affecting traffic

Some local canals will be covered to serve the race

Traffic signs have been set up in the construction site

The project was kicked off in March this year and is scheduled for completion next March.

The F1 Grand Prix will be held in Hanoi in April 2020.
