VFF punishes Hang Day Stadium managers after flare incident

Hang Day Stadium will hold games behind closed doors after a football fan was seriously injured by a flare lit at a recent football game.

A woman was injured by a flare at the V.League 1 clash between Hanoi FC and Nam Dinh FC at Hang Day Stadium on September 11. A group of men set off the first flare which was quickly controlled by the security.

However, the fans in Stand B continued burning flares and threw one of them into Stand A. The flare hit a woman's leg and a policeman sustained a light injury because of flares.


Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has asked for detailed reports to deal with the violations. VFF asked the police to investigate to punish the fans and tighten security for future matches.

VFF held two meetings on September 13 and decided to fine the managers of Hang Day Stadium VND85m. Hang Day Stadium will host Hanoi FC's next two games behind closed doors and was fined VND85m. Fans of Nam Dinh FC are also banned from the away game in Hanoi.
