Hundreds of people run for child protection
300 people on October 1 joined in a marathon in Danang to raise awareness on protecting children from trafficking and sexual abuse.
The participants will run 160km through Son Tra, Hai Chau, Lien Chieu and Hoa Vang districts and finish on October 3.
Since last year, Danang authorities have focused on the project to prevent child abuse and human trafficking. The project aims to reduce the number of abused children every year by 50%, the number of crimes committed by children by 15-20% and the number of child abusers by 10-15%. It is hoped that all abuse cases will be detected and dealt with.
The goal by 2020 is to remove all gangs led by minors. District authorities must start the programme to assist committed minors in integrating with the community.
