Quang Hai named as captain of Vietnam’s U22 squad
The head coach of the Vietnamese U22 squad Park Hang-seo has named midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai as the team’s captain ahead of the upcoming 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in the Philippines.

As one of the country’s most talented players, Quang Hai is considered to be an integral part of Park Hang-seo’s plans, not just for Vietnam’s U22 side, but also for the senior national squad.
The Hanoi-born star has previous experience leading the country’s side, captaining Vietnam’s U22 team during the AFC U23 Championship 2020 qualifiers in March.
Along with the appointment of Quang Hai as captain, striker Nguyen Tien Linh and left back Do Thanh Thinh have been selected as the team’s vice captains.
Quang Hai and the rest of the squad will fly out to Manila, the Philippines, on November 22 to begin their participation in the SEA Games.
Upon arrival, Park Hang-seo will hold two training sessions ahead of their opening fixture against Brunei’s U22s on November 25.
Following this opening clash, Vietnam’s U22 side will face group games against Laos, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand on November 28, December 1, December 3, and December 5, respectively.
