Demand for the tours surged after Vietnam defeated Cambodia to reach the SEA Games football final.

Tours are priced between VND9.5-15 million (USD409-646) and have almost sold out.

Duc Phuc, 32, from Hanoi said that after the first half of the Vietnam-Cambodia clash ended 3-0 on Saturday night, he immediately started looking for tours.

“I intended to book four tickets for my family, but the travel agents I called were busy and some said that their companies had sold out the tours,” Phuc added.

By midnight that day he succeeded in booking the tour priced at VND14 million (USD608.69) per person.

Travel agencies have arranged more hotline staff to receive calls overnight.

The one-day tour includes airfares, bus service to pick up and take passengers from and to Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila and tickets for the match.

Many travel agents have also offered their customers hats, clothes and slogans to cheer on the team.

Bich Hue from HanoiRedtours said that her company have assigned three more staff members for customer service hotlines to meet the tour demand rise.

Up to 90% of HanoiRedtours’ tours to the Vietnam-Indonesia match tours had been sold by the night of December 7. The firm is negotiating with its partners to add more tour slots.

Saigontourist has reported that around 200 people had registered for the tours priced at VND14.9 million per person, mostly those from HCM City and Hanoi.

Most of 500 seats for the tour launched by Viettravel have been booked. The company plans to add more.
