On August 29, captain of the national football team, Que Ngoc Hai posted on his Facebook account a video clip which he did for a games company. The clip used some footage of the national team playing against Malaysia during the World Cup 2022 qualification, and the AFF Cup 2018.

VFF Deputy General Secretary Nguyen Minh Chau confirmed that the games company had used the images of the Asian Football Confederation without having asked for permission.

On the afternoon of September 3, the VFF sent out an official statement on the issue which said that VFF owns the copyright of the images of the Vietnamese national football team and their matches.

According to the VFF, a games company had recently used the images of the Vietnamese national football team to advertise their football game.

"We have asked them to remove all the images from their content," the statement said. "No businesses are allowed to use our images without having our permission."

Que Ngoc Hai has also removed the clip from his Facebook account.
