Foreigners flock to Hanoi street to cheer on World Cup

Many foreign tourists are rushing to Ta Hien Street in Hanoi’s Old Quarter to watch World Cup matches.


On Wednesday evening, Ta Hien Street was very crowded, including lots of foreigners, who gathered to see the match between Germany and Japan.


A couple of foreigners took photos while watching the match.



Some cafes had screens to make it easier for customers to watch the World Cup matches


 


No empty seats were left in the cafe despite the pavement being used.



Many foreigners said that this was the first time they had visited Vietnam. They were impressed by local people’s friendliness.


Ta Hien Street in Hanoi Old Quarter which is often called Pho Tay (Foreigner Street) is busier at night. Most international visitors to Hanoi usually visit the street.



The street is only about 200 metres long, connecting Luong Ngoc Quyen, Ma May and Hang Bac streets and is home to bars, beer stalls and restaurants, attracting tens of thousands of weekend revellers.
