Authorities are stepping up their campaign to encourage people to stop smoking, with banners going up at several locations around Hanoi.

 Stop smoking to save health

Banners highlighting the health issues related to smoking have gone up along Nguyen Xien, Khuat Duy Tien and Pham Hung roads, part of government efforts to educate smokers under the smoking harm, prevention and control ordinance.

Nguyen Van Ha, 62, an owner of a tea stand on Khuat Duy Tien Street in Thanh Xuan District, said, “Banners were installed a few days ago. They are clear, impressive and significant to encourage people not to smoke, and to encourage smokers to stop smoking. Local authorities are considering installing more banners in other venues around the capital city.”
