Despite the best efforts by Hanoi authorities to curb the constructions of super tiny houses, many of such houses have appeared on a newly-opened road.

The USD304.7m road that finished construction only in January running from Nhat Tan and Buoi Ward is considered the capital's most modern road. But only months later, various tiny houses that are only one to two metres deep have appeared along the new road.

Some houses are just one metre wide and two metres long. People have taken advantage of every piece of land to do business to build temporary homes. The pavement is used to store thrown away furniture and rubbish.

In addition, many constructions along the road have not been completed. For example, at some locations, the pavement has not been tilted properly while a small electricity pylon needs to be supported by wooden sticks.

Vu Ha, director of the Urban Transport Development and Investment Project Management Board, admitted that even though the road had been opened for traffic, many constructions were incomplete. "In fact, the road is still under construction and it will only be completed in June," he said.

He went on to say that the Department of Planning and Architecture was discussing solutions for the super tiny houses problem.
