A total of 148 old trees along Ton Duc Thang Street in central HCM City will be either chopped down or relocated for construction of Thu Thiem Bridge 2.

The road section from Le Duan Street to Ton Duc Thang Street in District 1 is famed for its old trees.

According to Bui Xuan Cuong, Director of the HCM City’s Transport Department, 142 trees will be either felled or relocated in August this year, while the remainder will be removed early next year.

Cuong added that the relocated trees will be moved to the Nong Lam University in Thu Duc District. Wood from the felled trees will be used for recycling products for public purposes.

The tree cutting and relocation will be carried out based on the speed of construction on the bridge.
