A week after the police raid at the houses of two infamous drug traders in the northern mountainous province of Son La's Long Luong Commune, local people have returned to their daily life but are still scared the places.

Nguyen Thanh Tuan,35, and Nguyen Van Thuan, 34, were both killed in a police shooting during a two-day police raid at their houses in Long Luong Commune on June 27 and 28. Both Tuan and Thuan were on the wanted list of the Ministry of Public Security and Police Department of Quang Ninh Province.

Tuan's residence included four small attached houses which were totally destroyed in the raid. The police arrested three suspects, seized four guns, three grenades, bullets and (?cooking?tear?) gas cylinders.

There are still some local police patrolling the area.

A local family is building a wall at their cornfield which is located in front of Tuan's house.

Farmer Song A Vang said that he used to be very scared when working in this field and never dared go near Tuan's house.

Local children play around the debris of Tuan's house.

The house of Nguyen Van Thuan which lies some 700 metres away from Tuan's house was not damaged in the raid.

It is still deserted and no local people dare to come near.

Police said Tuan used to live in this 60-square-metre house with his wife, their small child and three guards.

There are several rooms in the house which are open to one another.

At the back of the house there is a staircase leading to a 20-square-metre basement which has an exit to the hill behind.
