On July 19, leaders of Thanh Hoa province visited and presented gifts to wounded soldiers Vi Van Hung in Ten Tan commune, Dang Van Cuong in Muong Lat town, Loc Van Mon in Quang Chieu commune, as well as Lo Van Day, who was exposed to toxic chemicals, in Luong Lat district.

During the visits, the provincial leader asked the local authorities and people to take more practical actions to care for revolutionary contributors in the localities.

According to a report by the Thanh Hoa provincial Fatherland Front, the province mobilises nearly VND 12 billion every year to improve the livings of national contributors and families of policy beneficiaries.

In Bac Kan province, gifts worth VND500,000 each have also been presented to 39 Vietnamese heroic mothers, wounded soldiers, national contributors and families of fallen soldiers.

An incense-offering ceremony will also be scheduled to pay tribute to heroes and war martyrs at the cemetery in Phu Thong town, Bach Thong district.

Since the beginning of this year, the Southern Power Corporation under Electricity of Vietnam (EVN SPC) has funded VND13.5 billion to construct 270 social houses in 21 southern cities and provinces in response to the campaign titled 'The whole country joins hands for the poor – No one left behind'.

To observe the 72nd anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers' Day, the corporation has visited and delivered presents to Vietnamese heroic mothers in southern cities and provinces as well as wounded soldiers in Long Dat district, Ba Ria – Vung Tau province; and handed over 17 social houses to poor households and policy beneficiaries in the region.

A special art programme will take place at Road 9 National Martyrs Cemetery in the central province of Quang Tri on July 26 night as part of the Road 9 Singing Festival co-organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the provincial People’s Committee and Thang Long Service and Communication JSC.

The programme features performances honouring patriotism as well as the great sacrifice of Vietnamese people to national liberation.

The triennial festival, which runs from July 20-25, brings together artists across the country, along with art troupes from Laos and Cambodia.

As part of the festival, the organising board will present ten saving books to Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, and 200 gifts to invalids, sick soldiers and revolutionary contributors in Quang Tri.

Prior to the art programme, 800 local youths will light candles to pay tribute to martyrs at Road 9 National Martyrs Cemetery - the resting place of over 10,000 soldiers who laid down their lives during the war against the US.

A circus programme will also be held by the Vietnam Circus Federation in Hanoi from July 25-27 to mark Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day.
