1,400 children given new playgrounds in Quang Nam

The Vietnam-Korea Peace Foundation announced the news on July 2. This is a part of the project to improve the play environment for Vietnamese children funded by the Lotte Education Promotion Fund and Vietnam-Korea Peace Foundation.

The project aims to build environmentally-friendly playgrounds for 1,400 students at four primary schools in Dien Duong Ward including Van Thanh Tung Primary School 1 and 2, and Ho Van Bien Primary School 1 and 2.

Quang Nam Union of Friendship Organisation, Lotte Education Promotion Fund and Vietnam-Korea Peace Foundation signed a commitment in May to improve the educational environment in Vietnam. They also gave the children scholarships, bicycles and improved school facilities. The total cost of the project is USD83,000.

20 students from Danang University of Foreign Language Studies also helped design the playgrounds, survey the sites and complete the plans. The playgrounds are designed with different themes such as timeline, beehive and octopus, planes and our house between the trees. Even the toys and equipment also reflect the theme of peace, environment protection and South Korea-Vietnam friendship.

According to the Vietnam-Korea Peace Foundation, this was a meaningful project as it will help improve the educational and play environments for the children in Quang Nam where there are many families with disadvantaged backgrounds. Young people will also have opportunities to contribute to society and children development.

More playground projects will be carried out in Binh Dinh Province this year.
