More people in HCM City are buying gardens in the countryside to enjoy the scenery

Dang Van Hieu from District 1 said staying at home had taken a toll on his family so he wanted to buy a garden to have more space for relaxing. He was searching for land for a holiday home. He has taken interest in a 1,000-square-metre rambutan garden in Dong Nai Province.

"The owner is selling the garden for VND690m (USD30,000). The trees are over 7 years old with lots of rambutan. Many gardens which are around 100km from HCM City are being sold for VND600m to VND700m," he said.

Tran Thi My from District 3 said she had just made a deposit for a 2,500-square-metre garden in Long An Province. The garden was being sold for VND1.7bn (USD73,700).

"I like the garden because it is near the river. It has many trees like bananas, mangoes and jackfruit," she said. "We’ll go there during the weekend."

Many people also buy gardens or lands in Lam Dong, Binh Thuan and Binh Phuoc. Some are willing to buy land several hundreds of kilometres away from HCM City to enjoy the fresh air. Dong Nai and Lam Dong are favoured thanks to convenient transport links and the fresh air.

Plots from 1,000 or 2,000-square-metres are being sold for VND700m (USD30,400) to VND900m. Buyers are advised to research prices, required papers and other issues carefully as some people had bought lands with contaminated underground water.
