Tong Duy Tan, Hanoi’s famous food street is deserted as Covid-19 social distancing measures have been imposed in the city.

The famed bustling atmosphere in the street which is home to many food stalls, restaurants and small hotels has disappeared.

Most of the food stalls there have been closed, except for some offering delivery services.

Nguyen Duc Hieu, owner of Cay Si Restaurant said that since the Covid-19 outbreak in the city, the number of customers had sharply reduced, so most of his staff have quit their job. Currently, his restaurant mainly provides delivery services.

Loan Mai Restaurant only receives around 10 orders a day.

Shippers rush to the street to take orders at lunch and dinner, then, after that, the street falls silent.

Some restaurants don’t even bother to stay open until 9 pm as regulated and instead close after lunch.

Many restaurant owners cook and service customers themselves as staff have stopped working.
