Many areas in Hanoi have become quiet after stricter measures were applied for Covid-19 prevention.

After some districts in central Hanoi halted in-person dining and non-essential services due to high coronavirus risks, the Old Quarter has lost its bustling atmosphere.

Dinh Tien Hoang Street which runs along the Hoan Kiem Lake has become quiet.

Following the two districts of Dong Da and Hai Ba Trung, six more central districts of Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, Hoang Mai, Long Bien, Nam Tu Liem, and Tay Ho have also decided to only allow food and beverage establishments to serve takeaways and limit large gatherings starting from Sunday.

Residents are advised to stay indoors unless necessary.

Hanoi has recently become an epicentre with thousands of new infections confirmed daily. The city has continued to record the highest number of infections in the country for over a week, with nearly 2,000 cases confirmed on Monday.
