Rooftop water tanks pose dangers in Hanoi
The roofs of many buildings in Hanoi are covered by water tanks, which could pose dangers.
It is easy to see water tanks placed on apartment buildings' roof in Thanh Xuan Bac Ward, Thanh Xuan District, from Belt Road 3.
The tanks look like they could fall onto the ground at any time.
The old apartments in Hanoi are usually small, so the water tanks are put on the roof.
Each can contain between 500-1,500 litres of water and are reinforced with iron frames. Being exposed to weather for a long time, the iron frames can become corroded, posing a potential risk of cracking or breaking, especially during the rainy season.
