Two Vietnamese-American women, Van Ton-Quinlivan and Minh Dang, are some of the 15 Asian women to be honored as symbols of power and diversity in the Asian community in the US.
Those being honored in the “Champions of Change” program are leaders in business, politics, charities, sports, arts and education and exemplary role models for women nationwide, said Valerie Jarrett, a senior advisor to President Barack Obama and the White House on women’s and girl’s issues.

The program is one of the “Winning the Future” initiatives launched by President Obama in 2011.

Van Ton-Quinlivan is the Vice Chancellor of Workforce and Economic Development for community colleges in California aiming to improve the quality of education in the state.

Minh Dang is the executive director of an organization helping victims of human trafficking and fighting against child abuse in the US.
