The granting ceremony for the Vietnamese Talents Awards 2013, which honour promising talents in the categories of the natural sciences, IT, health and environmental protection, will be held this evening (November 20) in Hanoi.

The granting ceremony will be televised live at 8:30pm from the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Cultural Palace.

This is the 9th annual event, and will honour talents in the areas of natural sciences, IT and health. The environmental category has been added this year, and has received strong support from leaders of the state and party of Vietnam.

The live broadcast will be on VTV2 channel and Dantri online newspaper.

Dantri/DTiNews editor-in-chief, Pham Huy Hoan, said the granting ceremony was held on the occasion of November 20 (Vietnamese Teachers’ Day) to express gratitude to teachers who nurture the young generation of the country

The Vietnamese Talents Awards is jointly held by Dantri/DTiNews, Vietnam Television and Vietnam Posts and Communications Group (VNPT).

The annual granting ceremony was endorsed by gifts of flower baskets from General Vo Nguyen Giap before his death.

The awards ceremony this evening will see the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Vo Duc Dam, who will present the first prize in the IT category.

In terms of the IT products category, the organising board selected 18 finalists, including five in the mobile device application section. These 18 finalists gathered in Hanoi on November 17 and 18 to present their products.
