IASS awards, which are granted once over a period of 10 years , aim to honour scientists worldwide for their extraordinary achievements and special contributions in all scientific fields.

The awards ceremony, held by the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Vietnam Women's Union, was attended by Political Bureau member and Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, representatives of relevant ministries and leaders of Bac Ninh Province, the academician's homeland.
