Nguyen Thanh Duy raked a bronze medal in the IT software solutions for business at the 43rd WorldSkills Competition – the first medal of the Vietnamese team after five times participating in the event.

Besides, the Vietnamese team also obtained eight Medallions of Excellence in 7 categories – plumbing and heating, bricklaying, welding, web design, mechatronics, mechanical engineering design,, CAD and computer numerical controlled (CNC).

The IT software solutions, CNC, and welding are skills that Vietnamese contestants took part in for the first time.

The good results are attributed to well preparations and international cooperation in vocational training. A memorandum of understanding signed between the General Department of Vocational Training and Samsung Electronics Vietnam in March last year enabled the contestants to approach world’s advanced technologies.

The Vietnamese team comprising 14 contestants competed in 13 out of 50 skills at the 43rd WorldSkills Competition, which concluded in Brazil on August 17.
