Tran Nguyen Phan, a third year student at the Finance Academy under the Government of the Russian Federation will soon have the honour to meet the Russian President.

The meeting with the President will be held at the end of December and is dedicated to excellent young people and students all around the country.

Going to turn 20, Tran Nguyen Phan plans to study for a master's in USA

Despite studying in the Russian language, Phan has consistently been among the top students when he studied at Moscow high school number 2, and now at the Finance Academy.

In 2008, Phan had highest scores of all subjects for two consecutive terms. Thanks to that achievement, he was able to attend the Potanin scholarship competition against 169 other excellent students from his university.

After passing all necessary examinations, he has won the scholarship for the 2009-2010 period worth $1,500.

The Potanin scholarship was founded by Vladimir Potanin, a Russian billionaire in 2002. It has been donated to 60 leading universities in Russia and Phan will become the first Vietnamese scholarship winner.

In addition, Phan has received a $60s per month scholarship from his university.

He has also studied to play piano for more than 10 years and attended many musical performance competitions at his school as well as in the Vietnamese community in Moscow.

Phan is going to turn 20 and he hopes to study for a master's in the USA.
