The Vietnamese Talent Awards 2019 was officially launched in Hanoi on April 18.

The launch ceremony which was held at the headquarters of the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), was attended by scientists, enterprises operating in science and technology, medicine, environment, the media and IT lovers.


Speaking at the ceremony, Editor in chief of Dantri/Dtinews Online Newspaper who is also head of the Vietnamese Talent Awards' organising board, Pham Huy Hoan, said that the event has received lots of attention from the government and state over the past 14 years.

"Former state president Truong Tan Sang and PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc had come to give some awards," Hoan said. "Former state president Tran Dai Quang, NA chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, NA deputy Tran Quoc Vuong had sent flowers banquets while late general Vo Nguyen Giap used to send letters to encourage the organisers of the awards."

At the ceremony, the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group and Dantri/Dtinews Online Newspaper signed an agreement on co-organising the Vietnamese Talent Awards 2019.

With the theme The Power of Digital Transformation, this year's awards aim at encouraging the inventions of products which help develop a digital economy.


The editor-in-chief also shared that he introduced the 15th Vietnamese Talent Awards at the Vietnam Global Leaders Forum (VGLF) 2019 held in Paris on March 31.

"At the forum we called on Vietnamese talented people around the world to help promote and join in the competition," he said. "And we received the first entry for this year's competition from Dr. William Nguyen who is working in the US. The product, named VietSearch, focuses on data processing using Big Data, Data Mining, Data Analytics, and Machine Learning apps."

Addressing the ceremony, VNPT's deputy general director, Huynh Quang Liem, said that 2019 marks 15 years since Vietnamese Talent Awards was launched.

"It was not a very long journey but we have found out, honoured and promoted many products which have been widely applied in many sectors in and out the country," Liem said. "We have continued to expand and enhance the scale and value of the awards. VNPT will provide IT infrastructure support and advice for IT products during the competition as well as when they are applied."

Initiated in 2005 by the Vietnam Study Promotion Association and co-organised by the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group, Vietnam Television and Dantri/Dtinews online newspaper, the Vietnamese Talent Awards has become a prestigious annual national award.

This year's awards will honour outstanding products in IT, sciences and technologies, environment, medicine, and prizes to promote talent.
