Front-line doctor nominated as Hanoi outstanding citizen

The deputy director of the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Nguyen Trung Cap, who actively participated in the treatment of Covid-19 patients have been nominated for the list of 10 outstanding citizens of Hanoi.

Cap has treated nearly 20 patients in critical condition.

He graduated from Hanoi Medical University and then worked in the ICU of Agriculture Hosptial in 1995. In 2006, he moved to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases. He was promoted to the deputy director position in late July.

Since the start of the Covid-19 outbreak, he and other doctors have collected materials and data to share with other co-workers about coronavirus.

He also carried out health check-ups for thousands of people and directly treated 30 patients including 20 in critical condition. He was praised for innovative approaches to treatments for patients and preventive measures for the medical staff.

During this time, he gave lectures at four training class and built an emergency training programme on ventilators. He has maintained contact with other doctors and shared his experiences with other doctors in two meetings held by the Department of Health. He often gave advice to other medical employees in other hospitals and the CDCs.

There are a total of ten nominations for Hanoi outstanding citizen title this year. Nominations also include Le Do Quy or Pham Hong Cu, born in 1926, former deputy head of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army and Vu Ngoc Chuc, born in 1940, former chairman of the Alliance of Arts and Literature Associations of Hanoi.
