The event aimed to highlight the results of these activities and raise awareness among Vietnamese youth on regional co-operation.

Speaking at the festival, Nguyễn Anh Tuấn, first secretary of the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, said the committee had successfully held six co-operative events among ASEAN members this year.

“We put a lot of effort into organising these events and making sure they were of high quality,” he said.

“A case in point is the ASEAN Youth Leaders' Conference, during which we finalised the Joint Statement of ASEAN Youth Ministers on Enhancing Youth Cooperation for a Cohesive and Responsive ASEAN Community.”

An exchange programme implemented by the committee had enabled young ASEAN diplomats working in Vietnam to meet and share their expertise, Tuấn added.

The ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Forum organised by the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs' Association had also created an opportunity for business owners to discuss adapting to technological advancements, he said.

“As the COVID-19 pandemic is leaving major consequences on the socio-economic development of the member nations, Vietnam’s serious implementation of youth co-operation speaks volumes for its commitment on creating a cohesive and responsive ASEAN community,” Tuấn said.

Also at the event, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyễn Minh Vũ said "the future of ASEAN lies in the hands of its young owners".

To continue building a prosperous community, young people must never stop learning and equipping themselves with knowledge and skills to take control of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, he said.

“Young people are the future owners of each country and of the ASEAN community. Your voices, your contributions are of the utmost importance for its solid development,” he said.
