The recipients are those who excelled in scientific research, production, national defence, security, sports, business start-ups, culture and arts, and social activities.
In the Social activities category, Ha Anh Phuong, a 29-year-old English teacher from Huong Can High School in the northern province of Phu Tho was honoured for helping her students to connect with other schools worldwide via information technology.
Phuong was earlier the only Vietnamese person to be listed in the top ten of the 2020 Global Teacher Prize for her great contributions to education in remote areas.

Addressing the ceremony, Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member and permanent member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam, praised the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union for launching many movements and programmes, including the Outstanding Young Vietnamese Citizens Awards, to promote the great role of young people in building and defending the country.
Over the past 25 years, the Outstanding Young Vietnamese Citizens Awards has made a significant contribution to the discovery and fostering of young talents, helping generate high-quality human resources for the nation, noted Thuong.
Many outstanding young faces have great pervasive power, setting a shining example for the youth to follow suit, stressed the Party official.
He also requested Party committees, authorities, businesses and the entire society to create the best conditions for young people to promote their talents in building and defending a happy and prosperous Vietnamese state.
