The show was put on by Ca Tru Thang Long trio. The band included 83-year-old singer Nguyen Thi Chuc, dan day (long-necked lute-like instrument with three silk strings and 10 frets) player Nguyen Phu De, 88, and their student, singer Pham Thi Hue.

Two concerts to raise funds for the Thap Sang Niem Tin scholarship fund.

The concerts feature two violinists L.Dobrevska from Macedonia and Accordion A.Nikolic from Serbia, the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra and HCMC Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera.

Audiences will enjoy some tango masterpieces under the baton of conductor Le Phi Phi, including La Cumparsita, Verrano, Adios Nonino, Preparansa, Milonga Del Angel, Invierno, Por Una Cabeza, Oblivion, Valsecito Viejo, Balkango, Balkan Milonga Loca, and Libertango.

A solo exhibition Phu Phiem (Frivolity) featuring paintings on silk by Bui Tien Tuan. Tuan flaunts women's beauty, fashion and the nude form on traditional Vietnamese silk.

Born in Hoi An in 1971, Tuan graduated from the HCM City Fine Arts College in 1998 where he now works as a lecturer.

Part of a series of experimental works by sculptor Thai Nhat Minh.

Inspired by the breeding season, during which living creatures grow enlivened, elated, enraptured, when all crave unification, procreation and seek an escape from sorrow and solitude, this series by Thai Nhat Minh aspires to portray the connection between sculpture and abstract notions of landscape, time, and mentality. An intimate relationship – seemingly extraneous yet consistent between natural connections and those in contemporary life – one that remains clouded in everyone’s consciousness.

A photography exhibition from the Humans of Hanoi project and the first of many to come. Vietnam Fine Arts Museum

The first solo exhibition by artist Le Huu Hieu, featuring 18 oil-on-canvas paintings in medium size; there are also different experimentations with acrylic, using gold and silver on canvas.

With the language of surrealist art mixing with expressionist, the artist doesn’t just paint his own mental state but also expresses the consciousness of a certain class. This class is considered to be “The Youth of their times”. There is fear and amazement in front of the pressure of time and work.

Hanoi-Photo Exhibition “The Unravelers: Adventures with Mathematics”

Reflecting the poetic side of mathematics, the exhibition is an initiative of Jean-François Dars, Annick Lesne and Anne Papillault which is drawn from a collection of photographs & articles by great scientists during their stay at IHES (Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques). The scientists look back on their discipline, scientific thoughts and their own life. Among them, in particular, is Professor Ngo Bao Chau.
