Hanoi-Festival “Spring Celebrations Across the Country” 2017

Vietnam National Village of Ethnic Culture and Tourism, Son Tay Town

Featuring a wide range of folk games and traditional cultural practices staged by 16 ethnic communities across the country, including the “Xen Ban” festival of the Thai people and “Nao Pe Chau” festival of the Mong people, goat fights from ethnic groups in Hoang Su Phi District, Ha Giang Province, as well as sampling the ethnic groups’ signature Tet dishes.

Hanoi-Painting Exhibition “Rooster” by Ha Hoang

Each year is represented by a specific zodiac sign according to the 12-year cycle, and 2017 is the year of the Rooster.

Works on display at the exhibition explore meaning of Roosters in Vietnamese culture.

HCMC-Exhibition “The Three-Cornered World”

“The Three-Cornered World,” a novella by influential Japanese writer Natsume Soseki, tells the story of an unnamed artist sojourning in a nearly deserted hot-spring resort. Carrying nothing but paper and paint, the artist seeks refuge in art and haiku amidst the remoteness of the mountainous region, driven away from the society of man by the turbulence of war.

With these thoughts in mind, for our annual year-end hanging, the organiser presents a selection of hopeful, contemplative artworks by Ha Manh Thang, Sandrine Llouquet, Christine Nguyen, Nguyen Huy An and Tran Van Thao.
