Hanoi-Land Genie and the Kitchen Gods ceremony

Exploring Ong Cong – Ong Tao, a traditional ritual of the Vietnamese people, held on the 23rd day of the last lunar month to worship the Land Genie and the Kitchen Gods.

A New Year Tree will also be set up at the event.

Hanoi-Calligraphy Fair 2018

The show features a myriad of art forms like magic performances, love duet singing, and southern folk music.


Hanoi-Calligraphy Exhibition “Stroke of Spring – Art of Nom”

Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc street, Ba Dinh district

Displaying of 50 calligraphy works by authors and researchers of calligraphy and Nom – a logographic writing system formerly used to write the Vietnamese language.

The event also features calligraphy demonstrations and a calligraphy workshop.

Hanoi- Exhibition “Diary of a Cricket – Touch the Worlds”

The exhibition brings the characters in the literature masterpiece “Diary of a Cricket” by the late Vietnamese author To Hoai to life with 3D pop-up illustrations, figurines and original sketches.

Hanoi-Augmented Reality Exhibition “Joy”

L’Espace,24 Trang Tien street, Hoan Kiem district

12 artists in the field of illustration, typography, directing, and GIF’s have collaborated with the MNSTR Agency to create an exhibition on augmented reality, bringing an exciting experience to the public.

The artworks on exhibit are brought to life when viewed via a mobile application. A fun and poetic experience in which the audiences travels through crafts and digital artworks; paper and screen, silence and sound.

HCMC-Exhibition on Tuong art

Dozens of paintings and sculptures featuring performers and plays of tuồng and hát bội (classical drama), a Vietnamese traditional theatre originating in the 12th century.

The works were created by 140 painters and artists in theatre, movie and graphic design.

A talk show on tuồng hosted by veteran artists of the HCM City Theatre of Hát Bội Art will be organised every night during the event.

Famous traditional plays such as Hồ Nguyệt Cô Hóa Cáo (Nguyệt Cô Turning into a Fox) and San Hậu (The Reign) will be staged.

HCMC-Exhibition “Empty Forest” by Tuan Andrew Nguyen

A solo exhibition by Tuan Andrew Nguyen which showcases film, sculpture, photography and performance – revealing a landscape where the industry of ailing spiritual beliefs is feeding the most wretched of human desires, to irreversible effect.

HCMC-Exhibition “Guerilla Tactics” by Nguyen Quoc Chanh

The first solo exhibition of ceramics by Nguyen Quoc Chanh, an acclaimed poet, admired by his peers and audiences in Vietnam and overseas.

HCMC – Exhibition “The Preparations”

Salon Saigon, 6D Ngo Thoi Nhiem, Ward 7, Dist 3,

Presenting a collection of research that visual artist François Andès and pianist Luiz Gustavo Carvalho have conducted on the similarities and differences of religions in the world.

Part of the artist residency program “Villa Saigon” run by the French Institute in Vietnam, the two artists will carry out a performance which resembles a water puppet show, featuring original sounds recorded in HCM City and the Mekong Delta. Their final product, an animated movie entitled “Through a Disaster”, will be presented during the Mons International Love Film Festival 2018.

An exhibition of drawings by François Andès and the storyboard of “Through a Disaster” will take place at Salon Saigon on February 7, featuring piano performances and live painting by the two artists. The water puppets made by a Hanoian sculpture artisan will also be presented at the exhibition.

Interested participants can stay and discuss with the two foreign artists after the exhibition.

HCMC-Exhibition “Remnant” by Le The Lam

The Factory Contemporary Arts Centre, 15 Nguyen U Di, Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City

Featuring Le The Lam’s own world, wherein lies the sorrow and anxiety of living in postwar Vietnam. In this exhibition, Le The Lam’s paintings depict different states of a ‘silent death’, using the presence of closed coffins and lingering shadow-like humans, interspersed at times with words.
