Hanoi-Art Showcase: “Scroll”

Nov 11- Dec 12, 10 am – 8 pm
NGA Art Space – TACH SPACES
20 Hai Ba Trung Street

From the organizer:

A world without words is a world without meaning. A dream wrapped in words called myth. Shades of meaning absent logic. Stories rich in rhythm. Giving words to a wordless song.

Since childhood, we have been told countless stories. Stories, which like dreams, are often rife with logic yet contain profound meanings and lessons from the past. In this sense, dreams are the logic of myth. Each image and detail is conveyed through words, then distilled into a cacophany of poems, epigrams and stories that are absorbed into our reality. Gradually, myth and reality become inseperable and both undergo subtle changes with the passing of time becoming rich in rhythm and forming the identity of each generation.

“SCROLL” is an opportunity for each person to see themselves through mythological stories as they were intended, not reserved in the glass of a museum but preserved in practice in relation to the current life we’re living.

From Goethe Institut:

For the second time, Goethe-Institut Hanoi presents Gute Aussichten – New German Photography 2021 in cooperation with MATCA.

43 photos by 6 emerging artists take us to different regions, inviting discussions on various social issues and challenging the boundaries of photography itself. The ongoing work “Trees” transforms plants into main characters, highlighting their unique features and relationships to their surroundings. Taking inspiration from age-old folklore, “Glowing Eyes” depicts isolated communities living on the banks of the Amazon in Brazil with a touch of magical realism. “When emotions fall silent” are heartfelt portrayals of patients with eating disorders, while “Y A Manifesto” provides a playful critique of generation Y. Both combining various media such as digital renderings and artificial intelligence, “Squares” and “Terrain and Biotopes” raise questions about the impact of new technologies on photography and our real world.
