The meeting for leaders of Overseas Vietnamese (OV) organisations has agreed to promote the message of “Great Unity” to all Vietnamese expatriates worldwide.
The meeting, held in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong since November 11, heard 25 reports, affirming the great unity between the OV communities and Vietnamese organisations with the Party, State and people of Vietnam in the country.
Vietnamese expatriates’ communities have received due attention from the Party, State and people in the country and vive versa, many OVs and organisations have made contributions to building the country through transfer of knowledge, science-technology and investment.
Nguyen Thanh Son, Deputy Foreign Minister and Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, stressed the success of the event, affirming that the Party and State will study the opinions given by OVs at the meeting to design specific mechanisms and policies to meet their aspiration as well as raise the efficiency of the Party and State’s policy toward the Vietnamese expatriates.
Apart from promoting the spirit of solidarity, the meeting worked out proposals for suitable solutions to such issues as updating domestic information, building and implementing Vietnamese language teaching programmes, and organising cultural and art activities to help Vietnamese communities abroad preserve the traditional cultural identity.
